My girlfriend recently upgraded to the 5s. Since the cutover, her phone has been regularly showing no service. When she called Vodacom, they told her to turn 4G off. When she asked if that defeats the point of having an LTE enabled phone, the helpdesk had no anwer.
I called, and I was told to change her APN to internet instead of the lte.vodacom.za which hasnt worked.
Is anyone having the same issue?
My iPhone 5 on Vodacom is just fine.
Is there a trick to this that I just dont know?

I sent the following to VodacomData via PM.

Can someone perhaps assist? I have a question on Vodacom's data bundles.
I am considering migrating from a Smart S to a Topup 315s. If I were to load a monthly recurring or once off data bundle on the Topup 315s package, what happens when the bundle is depleted? Does the data service stop so that you have to load a new data bundle or does it go OOB against my inclusive airtme (R315)?
Sorry for this stupid question, I am strugling to find an answer?

So my sister sent me a giveahappy gift, I got 250MB of data to use this morning. By chance I logged in on the Vodacom website to check my account and saw the 250MB, but did you guys see what it says there within the gift section? Out of bundle R2.34, so if you use the 250MB gift and you go out of bundle, you are charged at R2.34, this is more than the normal OOB rates. WTF is this?? Dis skelm, dis wat dit is.
So the question is, does the insane OOB rate that was sneaked in, that you see by chance and they do not notify you about it - does it stop after the gift expires or does it keep on applying to your account?
And also, what if you had a normal data bundle, but your gift gets activated and you deplete the gift bundle within the time allowed for the gift bundle, does it then switch over to your existing data bundle or does it go OOB against insane rates?
You can really always expect Vodacom to try and do you in somehow.

So what does CellC really charge per mb of data, because it eats data in normal browsing on my smartphone! I used about R10 for 5minutes, I dont convert my airtime to data, cause its the same thing or should I?

Hope things are going good on your side.
Wanted to find out.
My Alarm system at home runs a Vodacom Pre-paid sim for SMS notifications.
It also allows me to remotely connect via an application but in order for this to happen the SIMCARD/Vodacom network needs to be able to allow remote connections.
From what I heard these remote ports are blocked by default on the Vodacom network. In order for me to get access I need to have the sim card provisioned on an unrestricted Vodacom APN.
Question. Do you have any details on this ?

Anyone else experiencing problem with outgoing email using ANY smtp server with Vodacom? Neither authenticated private SMTP or smtp.vodacom.co.za are working.
Started somewhere over night 9 - 10 December.

Hi,
I would like to know if someone knows how to access to Vodacom backend expert, that I may be able to contact via this forum or email.
My mother in South Africa has a weird data access issue. We have narrowed it down to having something to do with the way her contract is setup. She recently moved away from a balckberry to Note 2. They added a data bundle for her, but it does not seem to want to access mobile data. Replacing her sim with someone else's Vodacom contract sim solves the data access issue, so we know it is not the phone.
We are having a really hard time convincing the low level support guys at various Vodacom shops. They are clueless and did not even think to do the sim replacement test as I have described above.
I need help. I can supply her sim# and mobile# if needed for someone to just fix her contract setup.

Hi
My customer has applied for unrestricted APN on Vodacom, and this was working several months ago fine.
But their router was blown, and now we have replaced it.
Still using Same sim card.
We are now using a TP-Link MR3020 Router, and a Vodacom K4305 modem.
We can browse fine, but remote access is not working.
If I check on the router itself, it shows the public ip to be a 192.168.9.100, with the next-hop default gw being 192.168.9.1
The lan range on the router is 192.168.0.X
So I am not getting a routeable public IP on the 3G side.
I have tried the following APN's
unrestricted
internet
internet vpn
all the same.
Anybody can please help me with the correct settings. This is for remote access of a DVR.

Some help please,
I use Afrihost ADSL at work, which I connect to through WIFI on Iphone
At home I have a Telkom Mobile contract and connect via WIFI with Iphone
When not using the above, it will be normal Vodacom 3g.
I'm struggling to setup SMTP server to work on all three. I have en Mweb address and was told to use smtp.mweb.co.za with authentication etc..this workd on Afrihost Wifi, but not on Vcom or Telkom mobile.
Any suggestions, how do you guys send mail when connecting to various wifi hotspots?

I'm trying to set up a WASP for a client of mine who runs a small training college. What he wants is for people to be able to be charged for texts send to the college.
I have started the process of registration with Vodacom but have no idea which options to choose.
These are my options:

just wondering whats the average money/airtime spent on data (for cellphones) compared to the average amount of money/airtime spent on calls and sms's.
seems as if I use IM more often than I make calls so just wanted to get an idea of how things are changing for everyone else.

Just got back into SA a few days ago and my wife bought a new micro sim card (payg) from Vodacom. On putting it into her Nexus 5, we're told that: Selected Network (VodaCom-SA) unavailable.
We've tried various things like changing the preffered connection method (from LTE, to 3G etc.) with no luck.
When i take her sim and put it into my Nexus 4, it works perfectly. Neither of these phones are network locked.
Could someone please help us to get this to work properly on the Nexus 5??

So my dad is on vodacom prepaid for years.... I mean like years his simcard is so old I think its a 16k sim still.
Anyways he asked me what does the sms he got mean... The sms said use your Free 1GB internet bundle on the internet by downloading apps ect ect....
When I checked he got 1GB free data that is expiring on the end of January 2014..... How can I get this data reward? :D As you can see my dad bearly even recharge or anything. He just receives calls on it mostly...

a few months back bought a R99 internet starter pack from vodacom the 100meg for 12 month deal with a modem ... a week ago i decided to use it ... went in to get it all rica'ed etc ... and lo and behold was told
"sorry u took too long to use so the number was recycled and you cant get the 100meg per month, we need to give you a prepaid sim and you need to recharge it yourself ... " blank sim no data no voice no sms ... nada on it
this sounds like down right robbery ... i paid for something, i should have been told if i dont use it or activiate it in time i will lose it as part of the sale ... whether it cost R10 000 or r1 ... if i bought a product that said i will get 100meg per month i expect to get that ... not to be told oh sorry if u did not use it you lost it and there is nothing we can do ... need some advise on how to approach this from a principle point of view ... its just R100 ... but principally this is just wrong ...

Hi guys!! -First post I make...yay!-
I have applied for the LG G2 on a smart S contract online, but when it came to the "Confirm Order" part, they told me that I was not approved:( . but... I also received an SMS saying that I was approved :D (also yay!!). So, now I want to know, (when I try to apply from the beginning, they tell me that "Previous Approved application for customer exists (xxxxxxxx).Please submit for activation." ... which confuses me... a lot :confused: :confused: :confused:
My question is: WHERE THE HECK DO I SUBMIT THE DAMN THING??????????? (excuse the caps...)
Somebody please help me on this :(
