Is it possible? My iPhone automatically sets itself to lte.vodacom.za and when I spoke to live chat earlier they said I needed to wait for my sim to activate before they could enable LTE on it (I just ported over last night).

I was on an LTE area tonight and it switches to "No Service" which I assume means I'm not provisioned for LTE. I can't find any setting to enable on the Vodacom site - I am on prepaid though and I see their help says its not available for Prepaid customers.

Hi Everyone

First off if this post is in the wrong location, apologies.

My Galaxy S4 prompted me yesterday to update the installed software (OS) from 4.2 to 4.3 which I diligently did (697MB). Since this update I am unable to add new contacts to my phone, returning the error message "Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped." When clicking on the "+" key to add a new contact the phone at first becomes unresponsive, then blacks out completely with the exception of the menu bar at the top, and returns the error message as stated above.

So clearly this update is broken and needs to be fixed by the powers that be, who no doubt have loads of red tape to clear before a "patch" is released, leaving me da consumer in the proverbial p00. Any thoughts on what to do in a case like this? Do I go into Vodacom and present my case, any work around available, can you roll back? Thanks.

If it has been answered before kindly point me in the right direction, thanks again.

Query escalation

How many times does a query get escalated before it is resolved ? I've been with Vodacom for 17 years but I'm really getting tired of this incompetence. I logged a query and then received an email with some questions to answer for authentication. I replied with the answers. I then received an email (on 18/11/2013) stating that my query has been escalated and I will receive feedback within 24-72 hours. (Ref S3-T6621-1ZKY2)

No feedback received. Yesterday I emailed again to enquire what happened to my escalated query.

I received an email this morning stating that my query has now been escalated again to the Senior Escalations department and I will receive feedback within 24-48 hours. (Ref S3-T6F1F-FXXG7)

So I suppose that within a weeks time I will have to email them again and maybe this time it will be escalated to a more senior department than the Senior Escalations department.

In the meantime my calls are charged at double the call rate that I was paying before.

What happens to Airtime and Data when porting?

So what happens to unused airtime and data when porting to a different network?
Is it just forfeited?

I want to port, but I still have R125 worth of airtime still available :/

Brainteaser here,please advise...

Got a vodacom 3g modem giving me internet & email connection to my pc.
I have got outlook 2010.
No problems receiving email but get the following error sending:
"Server error 554 5.7.1"
"Helo command rejected: Please setup a hostname (FQDN)"

I have used smtp.vodacom.co.za and smtp.vodamail.co.za as my outgoing servers.
Have googled that error but cant find a solution

Any ideas?

Someone at work upgraded to an iphone 5s.

We connect all mobile devices to our companies APN.

We have to set the authentication to CHAP.

Anyone know where to find this on IOS 7.0.4 ?

Hi Guys

has anyone setup to use the built-in 3G on a Lenovo E531 laptop? There is no option to select a provider when i select South Africa as my country?

I am using the software that cam with the laptop and not Vodacom software(Vodacom sim that is already activated)

I recently took a contact with Vcom for an Iphone on the Smart S package.

I enquired about a dual sim, so that I can use my old Samsung when jogging etc.. in order to preserve the Iphone.

I'm told that dual sims are not allowed on "small packages" like Smart S.

Is there a reason for this? Is it true?

I use my Vodacom sim in my ipad and I am on a topup.
every month I use the ipad app to convert the money to data.
today I tried to convert again but it was not possible on the app
I then tried to us the web site and there was no option to do a once off purchase.
so I phoned the call center and was told that I cannot use topup to buy data bundles and that this was never available. I spoke to Phileme Mgesi.
she insisted that it is not possible to do this....... wtf is going on

Wifi LTE Router R212 issue

Recently purchased the R212 vodafone wifi lte router. Loaded up a prepaid sim with 20gb on it and while in my house in Green Point Cape Town the screen says Limited Service. In the house though my Iphone 5 gets perfect lte service that I've been tethering with. I wanted to get the LTE modem so I don't have to have my phone connected the whole time.

Have called support and been in the store twice now to get it resolved with no success. Wondering if anyone on here has any advice before I return the device.

No data throughput

So, for about 3 weeks now everytime I go to Clearwater mall, there's NO data throughput on VodaCom in and around the mall.

Both 3G and 4G (LTE)

How long will this be going on?

Network becoming degraded or can they (like Cell C) not handle the load I wonder?

I'd love to upload x 2 pics showing a speedtest attempt showing 'network issues' as well as a news24 screenshot saying 'no internet' - but - seems as if image uploadings' been disabled?

Anyway, VodaCom still have NO data throughput at Clearwater Mall...

Not getting what Vodacom advertises.

I am having a problem with Vodacom as they are not delivering what they have offered me.



I upgraded my cellphone contract to the Apple iphone 5S and they offered me an extra anount of 500MB data on top of the standard 200MB received on the Smart S package. I upgraded during the course of late November 2013 and they informed me that my new package will be effected on the 1st of December 2013. Now, If I work out correctly, 500MB of data plus 200MB of data equals 700MB of monthly data that should be allocated to me.

To my surprise, on the 1st of December 2013 I checked my data balance and found that I have only been allocated with 400MB of data.



After numerous phone calls to data support, I was referred to 3 different people and cut off line how many times. It seems to me that Vodacom cannot live up to it promises and cannot supply what is offered to their clients by them. The last person I spoke to was Ricardo from Vodacom Data support. He promised me that he will hand my query over to me as he is knocking of duty. How pathetic is that????? And still, I have never received my reference number for my problem logged with him. He promised that someone will look into it and get back to me. This has not happened.

Really, I think Vodacom needs to be woken up as they are busy robbing their customers and not delivering as promised in the advertisements where it clearly indicates the amount of extra data that will be received with the Apple iphone 5S. here is a link to their website advertising the extra data:

I also have my upgrade quotation from Vodacom that clearly indicates the extra 500MB of data that should be allocated to me.

What should I do now as it seems like after numerous calls to Vodacom myself as a normal client is ignored and empty promises are delivered. They do not get back to me.

Disabling outgoing calls/closed user group

Is it possible to disable outgoing voice calls on a SIM or at least set up a pin enabled closed user group? I ask this because someone I know got hit for 15K on calls by people who broke into his place and among the items taken was a data contract SIM and the thieves ran up calls over a short period of time.

I have a data contract and seeing as I use it in a wifi router there's no SIM pin-enabled, so if someone stole it while I was at work it would be a few hours before I know or the limit kicks-in and we know how useless that limit is on a contract.
