Vodacom is really bad when it comes to making calculations...

I have been patiently bidding my time to do an upgrade on my phone since March. I was told that i need to wait three months that my scoring can increase with Vodacom to upgrade.

After three months I call again and was told that my credit limit is R877 BUT I currently pay anything between R1400-R1700 per month via debit order. I am just looking to have a contract worth R1300... How does this calculation work?

To make matters worse, i did an online upgrade and it was SUCCESSFUL but when I called Vodacom Direct, tonight to find out when will the phone deliver i was told that it was not successful... That is false information and surely a contravention of the Consumer act?

Am i the only one struggling with an upgrade?

Network tests - what is tested?

Spurred by my Huawei / VoLTE issue - I was wondering what is tested? The late Android delays are blamed due to internal testing ... But the VoLTE issue makes it seem it isn't always flawless.

Seems impossible to get VoLTE on a Huawei on the Vodacom network. This is a feature of number of mid to high level phones and it seems useless on Vodacom.

But more concerning, is that Vodacom list the Huawei's as being able to do VoLTE, so I assume they've got this working in a lab somewhere?

V Live and "entertainment" line items - scam

Hi All,

best you check your statements carefully.
every contract phone in a friends company in Jan magically had subscribed to V-live services (later changed to "entertainment services" at a whopping R10 a day!

i laughed at my mates.
Then checked my phones in my business - well hells bells 50% of my companies phones were also subscribed!

i phoned Vodacom and asked to cancel the service and issue a refund.
3 days later i was reimbursed these fees

total scam this! - we never subscribed to anything of the sort.
blatant theft if you ask me

Vodacom out of Bundle rates

I usually manage my mobile data usage well, and this was the first time ever this has happened after buying bundles for about 7 years already.

My first out of bundle runover was handled very well by vodacom. The amount was credited, but I was explicitly warned that they will not refund again, and that I must manage my bandwith usage.

OK and so I did.

I phoned customer care and requested that they "Cap" the line and that it must be disconnected once I depleted my bundle, in order for it not to run into out of bundle rates. They activate it, and Everyone is happy.

So I test it - bundle runs out, I am still able to browse and consume data, now at out of bundle rates. I log this with Vodacom, asking for an explanation.

I find their response a bit cheeky:

"Dear *****

Please refer to the attached goodwill letter and usage report.

Voluntary Call Limit Terms and Conditions

Call/Data Limit locking is not guaranteed from a technical point of view and should be used as guidelines to manage spend on your account. If for any reason the limit is not implemented, you are still liable to pay for usage on the account.

Bundle tariffs for both calls and data do not cover SMS/general services and international calls. These charges will impact the limit you set and access to your FREE minutes can be affected for that month. However, you will carry over your FREE minutes in line with the current bundle rules.

Kind Regards

Marius *****

Vodacom Customer Care"

Why is the limit even offered, if this email make it seem that it is not even working properly?

I don't like being bullied.

SO careful with those bundles - keep a close eye on balances.

Vodacom data being depleted

Hi guys,

-I was on a Cell C mobile LTE router for over 2 years using on my laptop to surf the net using Firefox. I had good connectivity and very reliable data usage (large chunks not going missing if I wasn't watching vids etc)
-I switched to Vodacom 2 months back due to a good deal. I am now surfing using the same laptop and browser I was using with Cell C, but if I have eg. Google open on Firefox and not doing a single thing, I leave the laptop and when I come back later, the counter shows that I have used over 1.5GB of data
-So I did that a few times - eg. just random browsing for 20minutes (No vids and just reading news etc) and the data usage jumped up to 2.5GB which is impossible for what I was doing

-Has anyone had a similar issue with Vodacom?
-How do I track exactly what browsing activity has been chewing my data?

-I am on AVG and it is up to date.

Thanks in advance.

Setting up a corporate APN

Double posting as I need to know for two mobile networks: Vodacom/MTN

I would appreciate any advice on what the approx costs to setup a dedicated APN on the major mobile networks would cost and if there is a minimum number of devices required to enable this?

We have about just under 100 users across both networks but data utilization is a nightmare. People keep on complaining about data being 'lost', used up without their knowledge etc. I was led to believe that a corporate APN can
1. Help share the data between the devices by allocating / transferring to those that need it legitimately .
2. Provide insight into how it is being used e.g the data that is lost was actually all spent on instagram.

These SIM cards would be used for both Data in tablets and also possibly on corporate phones under consideration.

Is it also possible to have an APN that can host Sim cards from multiple networks? The reason we have a mix of both is that there are some areas in South Africa where 1 network just doesn't work so hence us giving our users the choice to choose between Vodacom/MTN.

Would appreciate if anyone can provide any insights on this topic

Vodacom Prepaid Data rates, am I missing something?

Dear All,

For years I would pay +- the rates in table for 30 days of data on the Vodacom network.
Why are these prices so much more compared to Telkom?

Brief example from table:
Vodacom R599: 10GB of data for 30 days
Telkom: R555 60GB day, 60GB night for 30 days

Vodacom 4G+ on Galaxy A5 2017

Dear members,

This is my first post and would like to know if anyone will be able to assist?

I have a Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 (vodacom firmware) updated to Android 8.0 security patch level May 2018.

It was quite a struggle to get 4G provisioned on my sim along with VoLTE and VoWiFi. But after endless calls to the call centre managed to get it all working.

I then noticed that a friend with a Galaxy S8 also android 8.0 but with cell c firmware gets 4G+ on vodacom where I do not. I entered the service menu and noticed that vodacom aggregate bands 1 and 3 in that specific area (Stellenbosch). 5mhz on band 1 and 10mhz on band 3, basically the same as Cell C. With a Cell C sim it also shows 4G+ btw.

When I do get 4G+ and enter the service menu it shows it is aggregating band 3 (10mhz) and band 38 (15mhz).

Is there a problem with my phone or is Vodacom only offering more access to 4G+ to its customers with higher end phones?

I am aware of the same problem on Cell C which was addressed by a firmware update. Why is the same fix not included in the vodacom android 8.0 update to allow it to display 4G+ with only 15mhz of combined aggregation? This does affect the speeds I presume.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi memebers,

Can anyone confirm if they get 4G+ on their Samsung devices in Stellenbosch? Also if you could then please enter *#0011# in your dialer and confirm which bands are aggregated or take a screenshot of the service menu. Thanks!

Who uses Vodacom BC Wireless Premium here?

While I'm evaluating my options to move away from Telkom to something that's a bit more modern than ADSL 10Mbps copper, I discovered that I'm in the coverage map for Vodacom BC Wireless Premium.

https://www.vodacombusiness.co.za/bu...reless-premium

Does anyone here use this and if so, what's the experience like? The network's FUP is way more reasonable than any WISP in my area, and they actually support symmetrical connections as well. It's expensive, but having a faster upload for my work and for Skype could be quite useful.

And that's definitely an option for a symmetrical uncapped LTE account there. I've wanted something like this for years.

SIM card cloned?

Hi guys,

This is for a friend.

About two weeks ago she had her phone swapped for a new one (iPhone X) at the iStore as she had a permanent green line down the side of her screen. Before, she wiped her phone and removed the sim card, however, since her phone was taken in and swapped she has random phone calls on her phone and her minutes are being used regularly.

I am a bit confused about the situation and have checked her iCloud to if any other devices are on it unaware to her and everything is in check.

The only thing I can think of is that somehow her sim card has been cloned? But then I don't understand how it can appear on her phone.

Vodacom fraud have been pretty useless and told us that it's a physical problem that needs to be solved at a Vodacom shop.

Maybe if someone can provide some data on these numbers that are being dialled too?... I have quite a lot of screenshots from her with various numbers.

Vodacom, poor service!

Good evening everyone,

I want to bitch about terrible service I am receiving from Vodacom.

I decided that I want to get a contract from them as they are in my opinion the most advanced network in SA. Wow, what a let down.

I first decided to go to the vodacom 4u store in Somerset Mall on 7 July to apply for a Samsung Galaxy S9. First of all what stupid contracts? I don't want an extra phone with a seperate sim and contract with the device I am applying for. No choice to only take the S9. So I decided to apply and was approved almost immediately. Wow, now hopeful of getting my new phone the same day.

I specifically asked the person helping me if they have stock of this phone or the S8. He said they have stock of the S9 only and are not getting the S8 anymore.

It then turns out they only have 'upgrade stock' of the S9 (so FU new customers) and will have the device in 3-4 days.

Irritated I walked out and went to the main Vodacom shop in the same mall. The lady that helped me there went to have a look at their stock situation and assured me they have the S9 in the color that I want. So I cancelled with the 4u store and began the process all over again.

She went to the back and came back to say to me 'Sorry I have made a mistake, we only have the S9+ in stock.' The S9+ is too bulky for me and more expensive on the same stupid contract so I decided to leave and go the online (next day delivery) route. I saw that they have the S8 and S9 in stock and went with the S8 which is on a cheaper contract and no extra phone so I applied for that on Tuesday 10 July. Minutes later got an email confirming vetting has been approved but no call back from Vodacom direct for hours.

So I decided to call them and was told the confirmation department will contact me shortly. I said it needs to be today as I have meetings the next day and won't be able to answer my phone.

Nothing happened.

I have since made 6 calls to them up until this afternoon the 12th of July. Still the same story. I asked them today if I can be transfered to this 'confirmation department' but was told they can not transfer me there as they must call me.

What year is this? How does next day delivery turn into 3 days later with no confirmation yet?? They haven't even asked where it must be delivered yet. So in the highly unlikely case that I get a call tommorow from them the courier will only deliver by Monday or Tuesday.

I am really very dissapointed in their service and thinking I must just give up and buy the phone cash.

Has anyone else had a similar dissapointing experience with Vodacom?

Hi Guys I need your assistance.
I have never reported a bad network tower so forgive me if I am updating or reporting wrong.
We have a tower in Mamelodi that I think everyone forgot about or I might be wrong.
Honestly if a tower is working, then I ssume there should be a red light that is on at all times at the top of the tower.
On this tower, the red light has not been on for a very long time and I guess maybe this might be the reason we are all getting no network at all.
I need assistance in reporting this tower so that someone can come out and have a look at what is going on.
we haven't had proper network in about 4 months and I do not think anyone has reported the issue since we do not know where to report it to.

Please please please if any one can direct me in the right path to get this matter resolved as some of us work from home and it is impossible to do so with that bad network coverage.

Thank you in advance.

LTE Deadspots

Hi Guys

On the Vodacom coverage map. There are certain areas that do not have LTE coverage (Deadspots) but 3G coverage is available.
E.g LTE&3G Coverage is available at my house but next door the neighbour would only get 3G coverage as indicated on the VC coverage map.
Why is that?

All very well the rolling out of 3G / 4G / 5G

How many little dorps in the platteland have even a single stable 3G connection ?
( Some of them do not even have ADSL ! )

I feel that you will only be able to , pat yourself on the back , be eligible for all these "big-deal" accolades , once EVERY little rural town in SA has a full stable LTE service.

ALL the rest is just hot air and boasting .......

Hi Vodacom has not implemented the ICASA ruling on data rollover. Still 30 days expiry. Has ICASA once again backed down to service provider demands? Toothless watchdog!!
