I Normally buy 1GB data for my phone which last me for about a month since I have WiFi at home and work. My phone and all my apps are totally up to date - I do all updates on WiFi.
Yesterday morning I went shopping with my family with around 500MB of data and R47 airtime on my phone. When I got home and tried to get into my complex (we have cell to boom), the friendly Vodacom lady asked me to please recharge my account. When I checked, I had 0 airtime and 0 data! The phone was in my pocket all this time, and I made 2 or 3 phone calls of less than a minute.
When I check the data usage on my phone it shows that I have used 376MB from 8 September to date (20 September). There is a disclaimer that the "Service provider data accounting may differ from your device", but by so much? 500MB data and R50 airtime in a few hours?
I am now too scared to buy data, so I will only be using WIFI until I have an answer to what happened here. I am also going to put a complaint in by Vodacom and Hello Peter.
