I'm getting more and more desperate to get away from Vodacom as each day passes. Initially, I ported from CellC to Vodacom, since VC was the only network to sell iPhones. 2 Years laters, when MTN started getting iPhones, I convinced myself that Vodacom is a better network, but now... I'm running out of reasons to mind**ck myself into staying with them.
While I love my iPhone, I'm not blind to its faults. Other people regularly have better reception than I do. But yesterday, my phone gave me "Call Failed" for almost every call I tried making, even with full signal. After retrying a call 5 or 6 times, it would suddenly work, and then the next 5 calls would fail. I restarted my phone and the problem persisted. Then a friend of mine sent me a message asking me to call him, because he can't get any calls out. The problem was not isolated, I have spoken to 8 people (all on Vodacom with a range of different phones) since who had the exact same problem all over Cape Town.
Today, Vodacom's 3G isn't working. We are three colleagues out for a quick business breakfast, all of us on Vodacom. We ended up paying for WIFI access.
I'm just so sick and tired of it. On my route home, there is a tower that for the last 2 years, failed to handle handover properly and every single time you pass a specific point, the call gets dropped. Vodacom still, after two years, haven't fixed the issue.
I'm tired of having to leave my phone outside on the balcony at work to get any reception. I'm tired of the audio artefacts on calls. While I have loved Vodacom up to this point, I can't continue paying them money every month, for no reception, erratic data service, and voice calls that you have to pray to work. At least when porting back to CellC, I can roam on Vodacom's deteriorating infrastructure when needed.
I know this a rant, but I know of no better place than MyBB to get it out. Hopefully someone from VC might read it and attend to the problems.
