This is aimed at those existing Vodacom users that were due for an upgrade and pre-ordered the Galaxy S5 via Vodacom's promotion (either the website or over the phone). Did you receive either a Gear 2 or Gear Fit?
I pre-ordered a few minutes (3min to be exact) after the promotion was advertised and immediately received a reference number which was never followed up by Vodacom in the promised 24hr period. When, a few days later, I phoned to check why no-one had gotten back to me I was told that they had no record of my upgrade request and that if I still wanted to upgrade I would not receive a free Gear device as they were all allocated.
I went through with the upgrade, lodging a complaint on both Facebook and Hellopeter. Vodacom phoned me back several times over the next few days where I spoke to reps who told me that I should have qualified for a device based on the time period of my initial application on the website. Finally a sales rep phoned me on Monday to tell me that the promotion was only for new contracts! She agreed with me that this was not stated anywhere, but would/could do nothing about this.
I feel that this is not the actual reason and they dropped the ball, and if it is the truth it's really a crap way to treat your existing customer base. So again my question to you is if any of you upgraded and received a Gear device please let me know so I can prove otherwise. ;)
