unauthorised porting of vodacom prepaid number

Just called vodacom customer to ask them why my prepaid number is not working since i use this only for bis on my bb 9300.

i was told by vodacom customer person ,that the number has been ported

i was shocked since how is that possible that a number can just be ported even if another network made a request without paperwork and verfication that the line is active and rica with the owners info.

They logged the call and said they will investigate the issue and get back to me .
