I have a 2GB Vodacom bundle on an open contract at R 149 per month. Last month I went over the data allocation by around 2GB 3GB and I received a bill for R 2450. All OK I knew the allocation and I went over it; fair enough.
This is where they screw me: I called the call centre and asked to be migrated to a 5GB bundle for the following month. I noted the 5GB pricing is currently R 259 monthly and I expected a similar price to upgrade. Much to my surprise the lady says the migration will be around R 789 monthly 3X more than the promotion This promotion on data bundles has been running for a good few months so I no longer consider it to be a promotion, rather EDLP (everyday low pricing) The reason provided that I cannot move to the R 259 or similar option as that that is a promotional price; but, I am currently on a promotional price so I am moving from one promo to a larger cap on a promo makes sense?
I totally fail to see the logic in this type of; well, lets call it an absolute con and rip-off. As a loyal client of Vodacom for over 10 years I now get to pay 3X more than someone who has just joined? I paid my part of their network infrastructure yet a new customer gets this all for gratis basically, because their loyal clients are paying the big bucks while the new ones get lekker specials.
OK, next point: So after my discussion with the call centre they promised me that a manager will call me in 10 minutes to discuss the options. Hopefully paying 3X more will result in great service; but ALAS 5 hours later I am still waiting
Well Vodacom if this is your strategy - http://www.vodacom.com/av_wwa_strategy.php; you have a very, very long way to go.
