Vodacom Smart Top up M+ & S+: Out Of Bundle data airtime usage or not?

We currently have a contentious OOB issue that Vodacom support as usual refuses to actually provide a customer service.

I have a Vodacom Smart Top up S+ account with 1 Gig data and airtime.

My mother in-law is a very active 77 year old smart phone user with a Vodacom Smart Top up M+ account with airtime only.

She purchases data bundles from a portion of her airtime each month.

The problem is sometimes the purchased bundle is used up and the OOB shark depletes the remaining airtime without much warning. (normal Vodacom deniability scam)
While i do have a very strong opinion that the automatic OOB without an explicit authorization to continue is nothing else but fraud and Vodacom should be held criminally liable, there is something else that Vodacom support refuses to believe exists.

On my Vodacom Smart Top up S+ account if my 1 Gig data bundle is used up i do not have any automated OOB problem at all. It never uses any of my airtime automatically for data even if my phone mobile data setting is on.
I have to purchase additional data before i have any further mobile data and i never have the OOB problem.
i.e. This is exactly what is preferred. - Full control without unexpected OOB costs.

This is what we would also prefer for my moms account for simple peace of mind.

Vodacom support says what is happening on my account is not possible.
I know it is possible and have confirmed it by purposefully using all my data and testing.

Does anyone else also have this beneficial 'feature' or any other advice on how to have the same 'feature' applied on my moms account?
